There has been an immortal race of human known as the “Ajin” for 17 years in Africa. When they were discovered, they were considered a danger to mankind because of their power to manipulate emotions, as well as the possibility of them not being destroyed. In the event that an Ajin is found within the society, they must be arrested and taken into formal custody immediately.
Despite seeing them in news reports every now and then, Kei Nagai, a student with intentions of becoming a doctor, knows little about Ajin. Although Kei isn’t paying attention to class, he knows that these creatures would not be considered human.
As it turns out, the mistrust he feels towards this subject is completely irrelevant as he is able to survive an accident that was supposed to take his life, signaling his rebirth as an Ajin and the start of his bad days. Kei soon discovers that more members of his species may be closer to him than he thinks after finding himself on the run from the entire world.
