After entering her apartment door on the way to work, Kobayashi is greeted by an unusual sight – the head of a dragon staring at her from across her balcony. The dragon transforms immediately into an energetic young lady dressed in a maid’s outfit, introducing herself as Tooru. It turns out that the stoic programmer had seen the mythical creature the night before by chance during a drunken trek in the mountains, and since the beast did not have anywhere else to stay, she offered it a home.

Therefore, Tooru chose to accept her savior’s offer and began working as her personal servant to repay the kindness she had received. A combination of guilt and Tooru’s amazing dragon abilities convince Kobayashi to take the girl in, regardless of her regret for her words and hesitation to follow through. Kobayashi is horrified by the maid’s unorthodox methods of housekeeping even when she is extremely proficient and it often ends up more trouble than it is worth. Additionally, the circumstances surrounding the dragon’s arrival on Earth seem to be more complicated than at first glance, as Tooru carries some heavy emotions and painful memories. Additionally, after her appearance, several other mythical beings appear at the new house, bringing a variety of eccentric characters with them. No matter how hard Kobayashi tries to cope with the crazy situation she has found herself in, she has little or no experience with the life she now leads as a dragon maid.
