The Tokyo Ghoul has become a brutal and merciless city—a place where brutal creatures called “ghouls” coexist with humans. These bloodthirsty savages are constantly feared by the citizens of this once great metropolis and their thirst for human flesh. The most dangerous aspect to these ghouls is their ability to blend into society and appear as human. Tokyo Ghoul was adapted from the best-selling supernatural horror manga by Sui Ishida. The plot follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who is instantly drawn to an avid reader named Rize Kamishiro. Kaneki finds out that Rize isn’t, in fact, who she seems to be when he’s face-to-face with her in the deepest recesses of the ghouls’ inhuman world. A number of mistakes lead Kaneki to be saved by Touka Kirishima, a mysterious waitress, and so begins his new and secret life as a half-ghoul/half-human being attempting to become assimilated to both societies.
