Tsugumomo

According to Japanese folklore, a ‘tsukumogami’ is a nonliving object that has evolved into being conscious and self-aware. Two types of tsukumomogami exist: mature “tsugumomo,” who have grown with the help of their owners over years, and aberrant “amasogi,” premature spirits that are only born to grant the destructive wishes of certain individuals.

Despite the loss of his mother’s obi, Kazuya Kagami never went without it. It is always in his possession, whether he is at home or at school. One day, he faces an amasogi attack that nearly ends his life. His treasured obi, transformed into a beautiful girl, defends him when all appears lost. Kazuya’s mother owns a tsugumomo named Kiriha, a servant whose name she has adopted. As soon as Kiriha arrives, Kazuya is thrown into a world he has never before encountered, one which is filled with gods and tsukumogami.
